Darkness Has Arrived

It all started with a book:
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Goodreads Description:
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she’s struggling to conceal her power and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps, and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town’s oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

All I could say at the end of this book was WOW!!

Now for months I have waited patiently...oh who am I kidding? I have waited on the edge of my seat for October 12th to roll around so I could get my hands on the next installment of The Castor Chronicles. Finally, my wait is over, too bad I have to get through the work day before I can claim my copy. Until then this will have to tide me over...

Beautiful Darkness

Goodreads Description:
Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small Southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath its moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful supernaturals for generations. A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.

Sometimes life-ending.

Together they can face anything Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

Okay so that's not quite going to cut it. Let's face it, this day just can't get over fast enough. So tell me, what book releases are you pining away for?

I don't pine for as many since I don't work in a bookstore anymore. But I can't wait to pick up FEARSCAPE by Simon Holt or the new Christopher Pike!

Speaking of, I don't think I've read the re-issue one you picked up the other day.

Looks like a good eerie read, especially for the Halloween season!

Oh, yes, I need to get my hands on the Darkness. I'm simply pining away for Across the Universe by Beth Revis. And Nightshade by Andrea Cremer.

I second Elana's choices :) I cannot wait to get my hands on Darkness!! But I'm afraid I'll have to wrestle with my mother for it--she wants it just as bad.

I haven't finished Beautiful Darkness yet, but I definitely do need to soon. I remember it being very beautifully written.

I am so out of the loop at the moment. But I need to finish my stack of TBR books, and the pile is getting taller all the time. Add 2!
