November Goals

I can’t believe November is here already! Time seems to be slipping away and I’m not certain where it goes. To ensure that I manage to accomplish something during the month of November, I’ve set a couple of goals to motivate me.

For starters, I plan to get more sleep. Of course I'm laughing as I write this because every time I try to go to bed early, my brain either refuses to shut off or my family thinks I'm ill. But I'm going to try regardless.

Second, with all of my edits and revisions complete on everything else I’ve been working on, I need a fresh new project to keep me out of trouble. I’m absolutely worthless if I’m not writing. I’ve tried that road and it’s not pretty.

So the first thing on my list is to finish the outline of my new WIP. (Gasp!) I know I’m a self proclaimed pantser here. I’ve no idea when I crossed over to the dark side, but I did. Now my obsessive compulsive side is coming out and I feel the need to have details and ideas out on paper in a logical order rather than waiting for them to come as I write.

Now whether or not this new form of madness works into my current writing methods remains to be seen. I just keep reminding myself that I can always change something if a better idea comes along.

Once the outline is complete, I plan to dive into my writing. Now I plan to cheer from the sidelines for all of you brave souls out there participating in NaNoWriMo. It just wasn't realistic for me this year.

Though I intend to do my own version.

This will also be a new method for me. I intend to write and write and then write some more. Not worrying about the number count or the editing and everything else I usually obsess over. By the end of the month, I hope to have a good start on my new WIP.

So what are some of your November goals? Whatever they are good luck!

I wish I had the courage to just write without looking back! *OUCH* sorry, that little voice who keeps telling me to write without looking back just whacked me one on the head. Okay! Okay! I'll give it go ... ;o)

I'm diving back into my second book. Let us know how the outlining first goes. I'm thinking of doing it for my next project.

I'd love to get some writing done on my WIP, but I'm afraid it's revisions for me. I'm going to crank them out and polish, polish, polish so I can enjoy the holiday season in December guilt-free :)

sounds like a dream! My favorite part is when the outline is done and all there's left to do is write it- that's when the magic happens imo! great post and good luck!

I'm in the middle of a re-write and I've been neglecting it. I need to get at least another 3 or 4 chapters done this month. Best of luck with all of yours Renae!

November is proving to be a busy busy month for me. I plan to finish my current WIP, I have the last edits due in two weeks for my debut novel, and I would like to have my next one started before the month is over. I think I might make myself a little crazy but December should be a bit calmer for me. But who knows.

Those are great goals, Renae. Especially the sleep one. *grin* I think I'm going to make that one of mine for November too. The dark circles under my eyes are not pretty! :)

I hope your outlining goes well. Have fun! I don't really have any goals for November except to keep plugging away on my edits. I'm enjoying it so much. The tough part is making the time when there are so many other pressing needs. I'm sure you know how that goes!

Good luck on your November goals! I'm participating in NaNoWriMo this year -- and like all other participants, hoping to have 50k by the end of it. :)

I totally feel you on the more sleep thing. I was going to do that last night, and then I got reading. There's nothing I like more than reading in bed. Except sleeping. So yeah. Working on it.

Good luck with your outline and then your writing!

Your goals are good. SMART as they would say in the good ole' 495. Mine are to get my second manuscript out to betas, write a query/synopsis for it, and revise part of the ending. Also, most importantly, to eat an entire pecan pie.

I have no idea how we got into November already. Dang...

I also made the resolution to get more sleep...and here I sit checking out blogs at 1:30 AM. Oh man.

Good luck with the outline!
