B=Being Productive

This says a lot today considering Saturday is my day to be a bum.

I sleep in. Skip the gym. Cheat on my diet and spend time with my kiddos.

You get the idea.

Saturday is also the day I get the most writing done. Crazy right?

Not really.

If there is one thing that relaxes me and relieves the stress that erodes into my daily life it's my writing. So on Saturday afternoons when the little one is down for her nap and my son is playing X-Box, I write.

I write without listening to my inner editor. My goal is to simply get my thoughts and story down on paper. I work on a new WIP or an existing scene that's not quite where I want it to be.

Whatever it is, when I finish, I do feel productive. Regardless of what I accomplish or fail to complete the rest of the day. Writing is my outlet, the one thing that takes my mind off of everything that's troubling me. When I'm working...for just a little while I am in control and things go the way I want them too. Isn't that a great feeling?

So why do you write? What holds your dedication to your craft?

I find the weekends work best for my writing as well. After a full day of work, it's harder to pull out that laptop but after loafing around on the weekend, I'm eager to get to my writing.

Being productive is what I am currently doing right now. I'm rewriting an ending to my story. Great post. =)

My weekends are only productive because I always work, but unfortunately I don't get anything I want to do done, mind you that goes for during the week too! I'm very disorganised!

I write because I need to! There is no other option! Nice to meet you! I also teach and write. I love the color of your blog... it's the same color as my couch!

I write because it's became a way of life, first I wrote poetry and being widowed and losing my mum in quick succession. I found writing I could put my innermost feelings on paper. Now I write for enjoyment and have made many friends,

Yvonne.

I'm glad you get your Saturdays to write and escape.

I write because I love to write. I am also most productive on weekends but sometimes I surprise myself and get a lot done during the evenings after work. Sometimes. :)

Yay for writing Saturday!

I write because I love it. Writing is my escape. It's the one time I can be really selfish, lock myself away and just indulge in being creative. I tend to be productive most days, but I do like to hide away weekends and tap away on the keyboard :)

Your blog is so beautiful!

I also write without listening to my I.E. We made a deal that he can come out and play when I'm done with the rewrite.

If. He plays nice.

Lovely post, I write because I must, and I do it when I can, where ever I am. It's a jugglng act right now. ;-)

Great post. I try to be productive but usually end up finding something else to do. I've got to get back to writing.

Writing is also a stress relief for me. It's how I communicate with the world and the PTB.

It's a wonderful feeling! I'm also a mom of two littles. I write YA Fantasy. What holds my dedication to my craft? That's an excellent question, and one I'm having a hard time answering. It just pulls me in. I don't think I could ignore it if I wanted to. Finally saying I wasn't going to wait anymore and setting myself specific goals is what got me moving and writing almost every day, though.

I love that I'm creating world and lives and stories. Even when I'm tired, the thought of writing intrigues me.

I write for pure escapism. I just love how the MCs take control. :)

I took early retirement a couple of months ago and imagined I'd be able to just sit down and write all the time - but, no!

Before, when I was working, I used to dream of spending endless days at the keyboard getting all the ideas out of my head and out there in black and white.

Now, I find I spend less time actually writing and more time 'thinking' through what I want to write. The result is that usually, the quality of the production is improved.

However, I intend to 'ramp up' the writing once all those niggly jobs I'd been putting off (like sorting through cupboards, redesigning the garden, clearing out the garage, decorating....) are done and dusted.

Then the 'writing' will only have to compete with the 'reading' - my TBR pile is like a mini-Matterhorn!
;-p

SueH I refuse to go quietly!

I try to get a little more done on Saturday and Sunday morning. Sometimes it's for my blog. Others for my writing. I write to express the creative side of myself.

It doesn't matter how many times I explain it to my other half, he doesn't understand how writing and blogging relaxes me!

What a great post. I write because it's the one place where I make up the rules. I feel a sense of real accomplishment and joy when I have written something that I am really proud of. I have kept a journal since I was 14...it has always been my personal sounding board and silent therapist! Blessings, Joanne

I feel like I'm always busy with something, but I never feel that I'm as productive as I'd like to be. A lot of times regular life takes precedence and I guess that is as it should be.

Everyone has to do nothing at least once a week. As for why I write, it looks as if it's the same reason as you. It's the only thing that takes my mind off life and everything.
