Back To Work...

As I write this blog post I am willing myself not to complain, cry or break out the chocolate.

At least not yet.

My room has been moved and ready or not the children will be coming back today. Vacation was fabulous while it lasted, but all good things must come to an end right? So now its back to work and I decided that it was time to set some goals to keep me on track before things get too crazy.

Now I'm not much for making new year's resolutions. Mainly because I am terrible at keeping them. But when I'm not actively writing, I'm a complete mess. You may be laughing right now, but I'm telling the honest truth. Thoughts get jumbled in my head and I feel completely unorganized. You get the idea.

So to keep myself on track and out of chaotic trouble, here are my goals for the year...or at least the immediate future.

1. Write something everyday. I won't give myself a specific word count. It just doesn't work for me. Some days I write one page, while others I write an entire chapter. It all evens out. But I will write everyday.

2. Writing helpful blog posts. I've been blogging since the end of May and while I have less time to work on my writing, I love all of the people I've met and wouldn't trade that for anything. So my goal is to keep my blog fun while helping others along the way. I'm in no way an expert, but what I stumble across that helps me I promise to pass along to you.

3. Make a significant dent in my TBR pile. As you all very well know, the pile is just out of control and only grew over my vacation.

So there you have it. I know my goals will change throughout the year, but for now this will get me started. So what about you? Do you believe in resolutions? If so what are yours?

I don't believe in resolutions but I do believe in having goals. My biggest one is to keep striving to learn and improve in all areas of my life. Hopefully that covers all my bases!

Great goals! I'm with you, screw resolutions and just make goals. So much easier to fufill when you don't call it a resolution (I guess the word is tainted).

I can help with the TBR pile!!! I have gotten a goodreads list filled with the fabulous books we know and love and are dying to read!!!

Good luck with your first day back. I'm glad mine was yesterday, imagine having to go through it again would not be fun.

My TBR pile is huge too! The problem for me is that my writing goals get in the way...so do I read a book, or work on my own writing? I know it's a matter of balance, but there are only so many hours in the day, and something always seems to get sacrificed. Here's to a year of more balance :)

Hmm, yeah, remember when I said on there that I wouldn't buy any more books? FAIL. I'm bad at keeping resolutions too. You're not alone! PS: try writing a short poem every morning to get your brain moving. Works for me, whether it ends up crap or great, it serves its purpose!

Great goals! I actually need to make writing something every day one of mine ... I'm a mess when I'm not writing too.

Good luck on the first day back. I'm with you on denting the TBR pile. It scares me looking at it. LOL.
Writing wise, I'm hoping to get 2 books written this year. Eep.

I don't believe in resolutions (they're made to be broken), but I do have writing/reading goals for the year. Hmmm. Sad. I haven't got anything beyond those two things. Oh well! Guess we know where my priorities lie.

I don't believe in word counts either. :)

I like the order of your goals. Well prioritized. Why don't you want to go back? NooooOOOOO!

Great resolutions! I make new year's resolutions, but I make resolutions/goals all year, too. I don't think it matters when you think about resolutions during the year as long as you're moving forward and changing for the better. :)

The word verif is sockisms. Haha, funny word!

Funny we both posted about this today.

I love your goals - realistic and sincere. You can do it!

Great goals. I've been back to work since Monday and nodding off at 7:00 pm. I'm going to try to finish my last sets of revisions, finish my query, hopefully query & start something new. Hope to accomplish it while working a full time job.
