A Much Needed Pick Me Up

Each and every day I thank my lucky stars that my agent,
plucked my query letter from the depths of her slush pile
and offered to represent my work. Yet another stepping
stone in this gut wrenching process on the road to get published.

The next step is being on submission, which I must say is
grueling all in itself. So I try to keep myself busy like the
rest of you by blogging and working on other writing projects and
steering clear of the comfort food. (Not easy!) There are up days
and there are down days. Yesterday was a down day...or at least it
started out that way until I read what was posted on one of my
favorite blogs.

To give you an idea of just how full of awesome Bree Ogden is, I
want to share this post with you that she composed on her blog
This Literary Life. It's a tribute to all of the authors that she
represents and I must say that I was blown away. In my opinion
it really shows just how varied an agents tastes can be, so don't give
up, the right one is out there for everyone.
I truly believe that.

Here is the excerpt from my book Fatal Beauties

“Everything was eerily still and quiet.
As I went about getting ready for the day ahead of me,

I found myself humming. I stopped short knowing what
could happen were I to partake in this innocent activity
too loudly. But then I remembered the reason and forgot to care.
I was happy.
Deliciously and undeniably happy.”

If you have the time be sure to check out the entire post.

I'd love to hear your thoughts as well as when you're having a down
day, what cheers you up?

I saw Bree's post yesterday and thought it was such an awesome thing to do for her clients. I loved your excerpt by the way.

If I'm having a down day, nothing cheers me up like hanging out with my kids--they make me laugh like no one else!

Hang on in there through submission, and remember we are here for you. I for one can't wait till I can read Fatal Beauties.:)

On down days I find blogging, reading, or -- since I don't have my own kiddies -- giving my goddaughter a big hug usually helps. Failing that, chocolate. :)

Thanks for the link, I'll go check that out.

When I am having a down day my chihuahua cheers me up! Or my fiance who will act like a five year old to get a smile out of me. Oh! Or a nice fruit smoothie... yummmm! I saw that you are a part of the Debut Author Challenge! That is so amazing that you are supporting debut authors and I only recently found out that I am going to be one!!! I wanted to ask if you wouldn’t mind heading over to my blog and giving me your opinion. As a blogger turned author I would really appreciate it and the publisher is still giving out ARCs so you might have a chance at a free copy! Thank you and I hope you will stop by and check out The Thirteenth Chime!

Sincerely,
Emma Michaels

P.S.- My release date if Friday the 13th (August this year) isn't that crazy?

Hey, Renae, I wish you luck with everything.

The best thing to cheer anyone up really is a hug. That always make me feel great, which is why I'm known by my friends to give the best full-hearted hugs.

So write on, smile, and hug someone!

Lovely. Bree is great. She recently signed one of the lovelies from my team blog. Nikki can't speak more highly of her. Congrats.
